Re 13

The number of vacant homes in Howard County was more than 300 in the third quarter of 2018, a 68-unit decrease over what it was a year ago, according to real estate numbers reported by ATTOM Data Solutions.

The county had the third highest home vacancy rate among 12 Maryland jurisdictions with 50,000 or more single-family homes and condos that were part of the analysis. The rate stood at 0.33 percent in the third quarter, down from 0.40 percent in the third quarter of 2017.

Nationwide, the home vacancy rate was 1.52 percent in the third quarter, representing more than 1.4 million housing units. That’s a 4 percent decrease over what it was a year earlier as activity in the nation’s housing market continued to intensify, according to ATTOM Data.

The study used county tax assessor information to determine the vacancy status for more than 95 million homes throughout the nation.
