Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, Howard County Tourism and Ellicott City Partnership (ECP) are offering a little extra incentive to shop in Old Ellicott City (OEC) this holiday season with OEC Holiday Bucks program.
The program, which provides $10 spending vouchers redeemable at participating restaurants, shops and service providers within the Old Ellicott City historic district, runs from December 21-24, 2018, 1,500 numerically marked vouchers will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis, two per family. Vouchers can be picked up from the Howard County Welcome Center, located at 8267 Main Street, Ellicott City 21043 from December 21st 11:00 AM to December 24th 2:00 PM while supplies last. Participating retailers will post a flyer in their window indicating they are a participating location.
This program is a show of support for the businesses in Old Ellicott City, which were impacted severely by two devastating floods, in July 2016 and May 2018.
“Old Ellicott City is such a vibrant part of Howard County, and so many people want to see the businesses on Main Street thrive. This voucher program provides a little extra incentive to show support for Ellicott City this holiday season by shopping and dining in the historic district,” stated County Executive Ball.
“Visit Howard County is thrilled for this opportunity to work in partnership with Howard County Government and the Ellicott City Partnership on a holiday voucher program to induce spending at the shops, restaurants, and service providers in Old Ellicott City,” stated Howard County Tourism Executive Director, Amanda Hof. “This is an excellent opportunity for visitors and residents alike to discover all that's new in Old Ellicott City. New businesses with exciting concepts are opening all the time and many of the familiar favorites have returned to this beloved historic district. Anyone who has not been lately should add a visit to Old Ellicott City to their holiday must-do list."
ECP President Matt Fleming stated: “We’re grateful to County Executive Ball for this generous sign of support for Old Ellicott City. It’s a win for both our businesses and our customers, and a welcome reminder that there’s something for everyone here.”
