Howard County Community Resources and Services issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.
Howard County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, December 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Patapsco Room of the Miller Branch Library located at 9421 Frederick Road in Ellicott City, to present plans for a nearby pond repair and enhancement project.
An evaluation of the pond identified an opportunity to expand the pond to include the adjacent stream, which would eliminate embankment erosion concerns and reduce the amount of stormwater runoff conveyed into Old Ellicott City. DPW’s Bureau of Environmental Services plans to replace the metal outlet pipe in the pond at the southwest corner of Rogers Avenue and Patapsco River Road in Ellicott City. Construction is expected to begin in the summer or fall of 2019.
The meeting will include a presentation, followed by an open discussion. County staff and the project’s design consultant, McCormick Taylor, will be on hand to answer any questions and gather public comments.
Those unable to attend the meeting who would like to view the plans and/or have questions should contact Mr. Brian Cleary with the DPW’s Stormwater Management Division at 410-313-6455 or email bcleary@howardcountymd.gov.
