HOWARD COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL & ADOPTION CENTER: Dr. Calvin Ball Sworn-In as the 10th Howard County Executive

Howard County Animal Control & Adoption Center issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.

Dr. Calvin Ball was sworn-in on December 3 as the 10th Howard County Executive. County Executive Ball was joined at this installation ceremony by the newest members of the Howard County Council who were also sworn into office - Liz Walsh (D-District 1), Opel Jones (D-District 2), Christiana Mercer Rigby (D-District 3), Deb Jung (D-District 4), David Yungmann (R-District 5). “I would not be standing here today if it were not for the abundant faith, trust, and support of so many people,” remarked County Executive Ball in his installation ceremony speech. “With our deeply rooted values of inclusion, equity, responsible stewardship of the earth, and prosperity for all, Howard County has the will and the ethos to be a beacon of hope and light shining brightly as a model of what America promises to be.”

Previously, County Executive Ball has been serving Howard County as a three-term Council member and a former Howard County Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. He made history in 2006 when he was elected as the youngest Council Chairman ever in Howard County. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, County Executive Ball, an educator, received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from Towson State University, a Master of Arts in Legal and Ethical Studies from the University of Baltimore and was awarded a Doctor of Education from Morgan State University.

A Maryland native and Columbia resident, County Executive Ball and his wife, Shani Ball, RN, BSN, are proud parents of two daughters who both attend Howard County Public Schools. Dr. Ball gained his passion for public service from his parents Calvin Ball Jr. and Carolyn Ball.
