Howard County Office of Emergency Management issued the following announcement on Nov. 22.
Happy Thanksgiving eve! The outreach team is working on creating volcanoes for an activity to teach students about the importance of hazard mitigation. Building codes and structural mitigation activities aren’t just important for limiting damage following volcanoes. They’re also important in reducing the damage from earthquakes, fires, floods, and hurricanes. Structural mitigation is one of the most effective disaster preparedness activities a town can use prior to a disaster! #ReadyHoCo
