Patapsco Heritage Greenway issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
Patapsco Heritage Greenway’s (PHG) Patapsco Valley Heritage Area (PVHA) Mini-Grant Program is designed to assist heritage-related sites, organizations and municipalities to develop new and innovative programs, partnerships, exhibits, tours, events, and other initiatives consistent with the regional goals and objectives stated within our state and county approved Management Plan.
The program, administered by the Patapsco Heritage Greenway (PHG), encourages mini-grant proposals that include collaborative partnerships, enhance preservation, encourage stewardship of natural resources, and promote heritage tourism.
This year PHG received over $31,000 in grant requests for the PVHA Mini-Grant Program. The PVHA Mini-Grant Program is funded by a grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority for $20,000. Due to the large number of requests, this year’s awardees were chosen through a competitive process.

Catonsville Recreation and Parks, “November 3, 2018 and April 6, 2019 Community Street Tree Planting”- $4,000
Benjamin Banneker Foundation, “2019 Colonial Market Fair Demonstrators”- $2,500
Community Ecology Institute, “Trash to Treasure: Patapsco Clean-Up and Environmental Art Creation Events”- $2,500
Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park, “Trailhead Sign, Soapstone Trail”- $2,000
Community College of Baltimore County Foundation, “Invisible History: Exploring CCBC Hilton Center’s Past”- $2,000
Howard County Conservancy, “Belmont History Display” -$1,000
Upper Patuxent Archaeology Group, “In Defense of Ellicott’s Mills: The Search for Camp Johnson”- $1,000
The Patapsco Heritage Greenway’s mission is to preserve, protect, interpret, and restore the environment, history, and culture of the Patapsco River Valley. PHG administers the Patapsco Valley Heritage Area and holds a variety of environmental and history based programs throughout the year.
