Howard County Health Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.
Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman and the members of the Commission on Disabilities will honor the achievements of Howard County residents with disabilities, their advocates, employers and service providers at the Commission’s 24th annual awards program. The program honors the outstanding efforts of individuals and organizations that advance full participation in community life for all people and promote the spirit and intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other disability rights laws. In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Rylin Rodgers, the Director of Public Policy for the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, will serve as guest speaker.

16th Annual Celebration of Sports

20th Annual 50+EXPO

Join Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman for the 20th annual 50+EXPO. The year’s event will feature more than 170 vendors and exhibitors of interest to adults age 50 and older, their families, caregivers and friends. There will be a number of seminars and an onsite health fair offering free screenings and free flu shot vaccines. The Capitol Steps perform at 2:00 p.m. in The Jim Rouse Theatre and attendees are asked to make a $5 donation for show tickets; all proceeds will benefit the Vivian Reid Community Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to older adults in Howard County.
