Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company issued the following announcement on June 30.
18 US children have died as a result of heatstroke after being left alone in a car. Cars can overheat rapidly, and so can children left in them. Heatstroke deaths can happen anywhere in the country, and it doesn’t have to feel hot outside to heat a car enough to kill a child trapped inside. Caregivers MUST check to make sure that no child is ever left in a car. If you see a child left in a car, TAKE ACTION! Call 9-1-1 and follow their directions. You might save a life.
