Howard County Operating Budget Review Committee met May 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

8:49 AM Approval of agenda and minutes– Debbie Engle

 Motion by T. Dennison second by M. Robinson to approve agenda, motion approved.

 Motion by T. Dennison, second by D. Medinger to approve meeting minutes of May 8 2018

Discussion:

The OBRC is developing a statement to be read to the BOE as part of the end of year report in June. In this report the

following will be included:

 The recommendations are a “Call to alter the course of the HCPSS”

 Themes of the report will be concise and bulleted.

 Fiduciary responsibility of the BOE is clearly defined.

 All stakeholders (students, parents, staff, community members and elected officials) understand the budget crisis that the HCPSS is in.

 Keep wordiness out of the opening statement.

Homework:

OBRC members will review the report, make notations, suggests or comments on the document, and send those to D.Engle to be incorporated into the report. Members should be prepared to finalize the document on May 22nd

 Olivia Claus will present to the OBRC on May 22, 2018 @ 9:45AM

 Review and finalize statement and recommendations for the June 21, 2018 report before the BOE.
